7 clever ways to attract new customers

Customer retention is crucial in any business for sustainability. Below are listed 7 ways to attract new customers.

clever ways to gain new customers

Create an irresistible offer

Who doesn't want a cool offer? Everyone does. People are looking for deals everyday. If for example, I can get something of value for a very good price, I will definitely look at that company offering that service or product more than once.

I will want to check out their products, value proposition, services they have their social media accounts etc.

This is to see if I can get more offers that will benefit me and consequently benefit them too in terms of profits and all. So the relationship will be mutual.

The truth is that most businesses don't really care much about a continuing relationship with their customer. Why? I would guess it's either some business owners don't care about their customers or they don't know to go about it.

Understand what your customers want

This point can make or break any business. People are only willing to pay for what can benefit them. This benefit actually doesn't have to be solving solving a problem or even providing a service.

It can be as simple as a product the makes someone happy or even their pet happy. There are so many examples of this on Tiktok when we see how many viral products are promoted or sold on there.

So yeah, I would like a product that can automatically translate my words without me having to edit one word! lol. That is a tough ask. I know there is Google voice , Ottai, etc. But the edits drive me crazy!

So my dear reader, what product or service would make you happy or solve a problem?

Know the kind of customers you are targeting

This is the avatar of your ideal customer(s) - oh yeah, what does your ideal customer look like? Sometimes, your product or service may even be appealing to different types of demographics, so know the kind of customers they are will be really beneficial in meeting their needs and of course, you making  more sales.

This is can be confusing but to make it easier to understand. You have to imagine what your normal customer will look like, even though you don't know them yet. For example, it is like you create a person based on specific characteristics.

So let's see an example, I sell children's shoes from age 0 - 16 which costs between 40 and 120 dollars. Now my target customers are naturally parents of children. But who is most likely to buy, you guessed, mums.

So my adverts need to get in front of mums. I also need mums to have enough disposable cash every quarter (seasonal changes). I also need mums who take footwear seriously.

I also need mums who are comfortable with shopping online and are not necessarily after offers but want quality etc. etc. I could go on and on trying to describe who my ideal customer is, but you get the idea.

That's how you can roughly put together a persona for you ideal customer

Start a contest.

This can get your product or service in front of your ideal customers. Those that won't normally have exposure to your product or service could potentially be your next customers if they eventually like your product or service offering!

So, go ahead and throw that contest on Instagram, Facebook etc.  You never know who your next customers will be!

Target niche customers on a small scale successfully and this might impact on the general population of your ideal audience.

For example, you sell children's clothes for for girls, why not try targeting their mums by selling mum and daughter outfits for example.

That is a niche within a niche, I would say, I would say since the mums are already customers, you can upsell to them focusing on shared moments with daughters!

Get serious with online presence. Almost everyone is online nowadays, so if you want to get in front of your ideal customer, you need to be online!

Build partnerships with other businesses to leverage their existing customers whilst benefiting them too.

That is it for now.
